Swindlers may be following your every tweet and post, looking for a chance to fleece you. Here’s how to beat the several fast growing cons and safeguard your online privacy
The bad guys are succeeding. “They used to be pimply faced teens in their mother’s homes, trying to prove how smart they were,” says Brian Yoder, vice president of engineering at CyberDefender, a manufacturer of antivirus software. “…They don’t want to destroy your computer; they just want your money. They’re making millions of dollars a day, and they have big budgets.”
Malicious software “robots” lead the charge, but the human crooks in Third World sweatshops take over by typing in letters and numbers of those “captcha” registration boxes that thwart mechanized spammers. They communicate with you via e-mail, IM, or text messaging.
1 Free Trial Offer! (Just pay forever)
You see an internet offer for a free one-month trial of your favorite software or any amazing product. If you have believed those few words on the site without reading the fine print on the background, you have been trapped. Save you the trouble by reading the fine print offers and research to make sure the offer is not bogus.
2 Hot Spot Imposter (He’s close, real close)
You’re sitting in some coffee shop and you log into the local Wi-Fi zone. Fake Wi-Fi hotspots are cropping up everywhere cracking you’re your computer for banking, credit cards, and password info. Make sure you’re not set up to automatically connect to nonpreferred networks.
3 The Not-so-Sweet Tweet (It’s a real long shot)
You get a tweet from a follower raving about a contest for a free iPad with a link. The link downloads a “bot”(software robot), adding your computer to a botnet of “zombies” to send spam mails.
4 Your Computer is infected! (We can help)
A window pops up about a legitimate-sounding antivirus software program alerting you that your machine has been infected with a dangerous virus with a link to click. IF you get such a pop-up, close the window and run a full system scan using updated and legitimate antivirus software.
5 Love for Sale (the cruelest con)
You meet someone on a dating site, on FaceBook, in a chat room. You exchange pictures, talk on phone. You feel both of you were made for each other. But the love lives in a foreign country and says she needs money from you to buy tickets and you can finally be together. Well, that new love is the scam artist. Social networking sites can be great to meet new friends but if someone you know only from the Web asks for money, just sign off immediately.

Apple, one company that has made the life around us magical with innumerable innovative inventions brought into the tech world; is now ready to unveil yet another wonderful infotainment tool to revolutionize the world of gadgets. This new gadget, synonymous with tablet-PC or an iphone according to a few netizens, is bound to prove a great weapon to fight boredom and quench your thirst to explore the wonders of technology.
Many call IPad as an addendum to the IPod touch, however there are obvious differences like attractive large screen display. Apart from its vivifying large screen display with picture perfect clarity, it has such a sleek and stylish built that you are sure to fall in love with it for the first time and every time you use it. Apple has designed the Ipad with such good battery life as long as 10 hours and it weighs around 1.5 pounds making it extremely portable. The sound effects produced by this miniature wonder while flipping pages, navigating through the web pages or resizing them, is just so rhythmic and awesome.
If you already own an IPhone, then you will find IPad’s user interface very familiar and moreover, it is very user-friendly as well. The introduction of the IWork application has redefined its use for just entertainment to an amazing tool for infotainment and edutainment. You can experience the joy of learning with the keynote presentations and manage your data with the excel workbooks. This virtual bookshelf has a hoard of other applications built in it like the iBooks; this gives an elegant and realistic feel to the reader and all the more makes reading a delightful experience.
The fan club of IPad is expanding day by day with its amazing features; thanks to the multi-touch technology introduced in this type of everyday use gadget. If you are an entertainment aficionado, then IPad will take away all your miseries allowing you to watch your favorite movies, play games, listen to your favorite stars and the list is endless. If you are a computer geek and want to spend your time productively, you can use the Ipad to read and download eBooks and you never have to miss the news at all.
All thumbs up for this wonder gadget for having introduced into it amazing features which were never before seen or heard. However, the major drawback lies in the fact that it does not allow you to make phone calls like your handy mobile phone. Moreover, you cannot just connect to the Apple store with the Wi-Fi signal, making it frustrating experience.
The verdict is Apple’s IPad is here t o stay. It needs no competition, for it is for sure the winner.

The best part of this authentic collection of watches available in the market is that they are manufactured with part that are as genuine and of high quality as the original ones. These watches come in such a high quality at reasonable prices that leave even the authorized Rolex dealer open-mouthed. The watches’ all parts look akin to the costly Swiss watches which certain part of the crowd can only dream about. Moreover, the weight of the replica watches is also of the same as that of the original collections. The quality of the stainless steel is simply best and that goes without saying. Why would anyone spend so much money on the real ones when these replica Swiss watches are available so easy on the pocket book? Every one yearns for the same classy looks and high quality performance and long life like that of the costly collections from these Swiss replica watches.
The components of these replica Swiss Rolex watches are same as that of the extravagant version. That same aggressive design with the stainless steel body and elegant dial in addition to the sapphire glass crystal that is scratch resistant. It is also wise to expect donkey’s years from these exotic replica Swiss watches. Look out for the latest styles, with elegant designs and look, the expensive feel at a fraction of price from the various online resources. As these watches are in much demand today, many online stores are coming up with competing prices and offers.

If someone was to ask you, “When do we celebrate new year?” what would you say? “January 1, of course!” wondering why you were being asked such a stupid question. Well, to your surprise, New year has been celebrated on January 1 only for the last 400 years or so- after the Pope Gregory introduced the new calendar in 5162. Four thousand years before that, the Babylonians first started celebrating New Year- but in late March, at the beginning of Spring. Finally, to set the calendar right, Julius Caesar declared January 1 to be the New Year in honor of Janus. An interesting thing about this momentous incident is that in order to set the Calendar right, Caesar had to let the previous year drag on till 445 days!

Did you know that April Fool’s day came into existence only because of this change of date? Some people who were not aware of the change continued to celebrate NEw YEar on April 1. Others made fun of them and played tricks on them and this day came to be known as April Fool’s Day!

A stream of knowledge has been incessantly flowing in India since time immemorial and credit for this goes to saints and seers, who have guided and inspired mankind to tread the sublime path of righteousness in order to realize “Truth”. Jainism is one of the oldest religious traditions of the world. Lord Mahavira, the 24th Thirthankara, was the profounder who attained omniscience by practicing rigorous austerities, penance, non-violence and compassion. His preachings are relevant even today and bear special significance for mankind’s spiritual advancement. His message is full of pragmatic optimism, self-reliance, and self-discipline to develop the inherent and infinite potentialities of an individual.

Jain society celebrates an annual “self-purification ceremony” called Paryushan Parva for eight days. The discourses that Jain attend include one on “Right Faith”. Belief in the existence of six factors (soul, non-soul, medium of motion, of rest, space and time) is reckoned as correct faith. Practice of austerity is Right Conduct. These three constitute the pathway to liberation. Desired result is attained when there is harmony between right type of knowledge and right conduct, for a chariot does not move by one wheel alone.

As the light from even crores of burning lamps is of no avail to a blind person, it is worthless to study all scriptures for a person without right knowledge and character.

Have you ever thought why do we ever think???
I know the question’s strange and must have made you blink……
What is it that makes you win….
That brings happiness to your kith and kin….
What is it that’s so close,
That’s so innocent as a smiling rose….
what is it that’s so pure,
that fills life with colors for sure…
What is it that’s like a delicious ice cream,
that takes you off to the land of your dream…..
What is it that makes you good, that makes you bad,
that makes you happy, that makes you sad….
What is it that’s as sweet as a babe’s smile,
That flows so long as the mighty Nile…..

Its just a mere thought that that shines like the sun’s rays,
Its just the frozen thought that makes life meaningful in its own ways….
So spread your wings and get set to fly…
let nothing let you down, let nothing let you cry….
just think of life before you lament,
for life is romantic and promising every new moment…
Learn never to cage your imagination,
‘Coz its the Almighty’s greatest unseen creation……

Have a thoughtful day!

Cloud computing – An overview
The advent of cloud computing is causing a major paradigm shift in the way Enterprise applications are built and deployed to end users.

The buzz around Cloud Computing, in which tasks are assigned to a combination of connections, software and services over a network, increased as Software as a Service (SaaS) vendors were able to deliver large solutions as a pay as you go service. Now you hear terms like, Platform as a Service (PaaS), Amazon Cloud Computing (EC2), Google App Engine, Microsoft Azure and others.

This paper tries to categorize various Cloud Computing options available now. This will help us compare different offerings and make better decision making.

Cloud Applications:
The first generation is Cloud applications. These applications are hosted in the internet by some company, and users may sign-up for and use without any concern about where and how the application is hosted. Most of these applicationa are services like gmail, yahoo mail, the various search engines, wikipedia, encyclopedia Britannica etc.

Cloud Infrastructure:
This is the second generation of cloud computing with offering that Amazon has pioneered in the form of Amazon’s Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2). EC2 provides customer-specific Linux instances running in virtual machines (VMs). Customers set up an account with Amazon Web Services and have access to a VM. The customers development team can set up applications in the Linux environment. EC2 just provides a foundation — platform software on a machine, including a base operating system, storage and standard libraries. Developers build and deploy J2EE base applications in this platform just like any Linux deployment. The value add to the customer is that EC2 allows customers to to create many Linux instances and then distribute large workloads across them in parallel. This reduces initial cost of purchasing the hardware, software and setting up the network, All they pay is for the usage of a supported platform.

There are multiple other players providing this infrastructure services in the cloud. For instance the AT&T is putting an infrastructure for US Olympic committee (teamusa.org).The benefit for the US Olympic committee is that the environment will scale when the traffic will increase with Olympic season and scale down when the usage goes down. With the of video streaming of the sports events and the like this elasticity is what large content providers are looking for.

Cloud Platforms:
This is the newest entry where the vendors provide an application platform to developers in the cloud. Developers write their application to a more or less open specification and then upload their code into the cloud where the application is run. The platform is able to scale up as the application usage grows. Force.com and Google App Engine are leaders in this category.

Google’s AppEngine provides local support for running Python Web applications. Along with a standard Python runtime. These applications leverage a hierarchical data store with its own query language built into the Google Appengine, Force.com, offered by Salesforce.com is aimed at creating data-oriented business applications like CRM solutions. Force.com provides support for data storage and leverages a language called Apex for building customizations/extentions to their base software. They also leverage a large of pool of developers building components in the platform in their appexchange. Corporations are billed on a pay as you use basis for these components/widgets in the platform. Microsoft also provides the same approach for its CRM Live offering. Based on the Dynamics CRM platform.

Summary:
Cloud platforms is a very novel concept and promises to take away the infrastructure maintenance tasks from the corporations, providing an application centric approach for deploying, managing, and monitoring applications. The technology and tools around this are maturing and we will see a lot of adoption as the benefits is many fold. In the Cloud Infrastructure area we are already seeing additional infrastructure services like remote storage and identity services.
